Design a set of salt and pepper shakers inspired by Dubai's ostentatious lifestyle.
Ostentatious salt and pepper shakers.
I was particularly drawn to Dubai's over-the-top architecture.
Form realization.
Gem inspired. Can stand both together and alone. Overall too stagnant.
Unsuccessful attempt at an organic, grand gesture. Forms aren't cohesive.
Spiral form has dramatic movement, forms are more successful separate.
Thin tapper makes forms too dainty and fragile looking.
Thicker forms creates dramatic negative space and movement.
Aluminum fabrication.
Carve a piece of poplar wood to be sand casted into two identical aluminum accents.
Carve away excess material, sand, and polish the aluminum to final form.
Final salt and pepper shakers.
